Looking like the figure of a ‘Linga,’ this high point has an immense height of 2,969 feet and is a famous attraction for people who love trekking. It’s famous all over the world, of course! Being built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the historic year of 1648, this startling fort used as a penal settlement. In general, it was made with a purpose to protect central Konkan against the Sidis. For your knowledge, here the prisoners were locked up in rock jails, where one jail could hold fifty convicts. Also, this fort was taken into custody by a Colonel Prother in 1818.
